Fashion Forecast 2018-2019 - Anum Thanvi Sharif

Animal Prints:

“Animal Print is a natural “– Stacy London. Over the last few years yes, we might have felt them be trashy or too outmoded but with this year’s winter collections, they are back with a bang.  They were majorly seen on the catwalks of Calvin Klein, Victoria Beckham, Balenciaga, Tom Ford, and Givenchy. But of course, it's mandatory to keep the rest of your outfit and accessory pieces as basic and flat as possible. Because hey, you don’t want to alarm the cats around your alley, do you?

Modesty Dressing:

Now what actually defines modesty, I don’t know, but what the trend is trying to focus on, is more layered and covered up clothing. And it does kind of makes sense because its winter, so that’s, ought to be practical. Again, from Balenciaga to Erdem’s evening dress, from Stella McCartney to Alexander MacQueen the tailoring was the major highlight. Hemlines were kept low, necklines were kept high and there were lots of long stocking, prim shirts, and scarfs in the mix.

Tweed:

Something my grandma loved, my mum flaunted and now I get to dress t up. Tweed has something about it that gives a very chic heritage feel to the look. Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Mui Miu, and Elle Fanning all did their unique twists on the trend. Some played with textures, while the other played around with oversized coats and skirts. And then there was a boom with ’80s inspired tweed jackets as well.

Gloss:

Shine was the star on the catwalks this season. Every single piece of wardrobe was bouncing light and glitter. Vinyl, Plastic, Leather, and Latex, took the show to another psychedelic zone. Fendi styled her pieces with a rain-proof gloss finish, while Channel created metallics in glossy materials.

Checks:

Checkered is one thing that I guess can never go out of fashion. You have them in uniforms, you have them on British royalty, you have them as kinky wear and you even have them on catwalks. American inspiration for checkered stood out with Calvin Klein’s balloon sleeved shirts and Versace’s approach was a very ’90s “clueless” inspired feel.

Luxury Fringing:

Now if fringing reminds you of bohemian styles and Coachella, then it’s not your fault – I absolutely have always adored the trend anyway. But now with the new fashion wave, we get to see fringing with a dash of luxury. Fringing was now seen more refined aesthetically, beaded and shimmering at Gucci, Givenchy, and Christopher Lane. Stay ready to bring the bling back on.

Leather:

What comes in your mind when I say L-e-a-t-h-e-r? Black! But no, this season was different for leather too. We saw a lot of skirts, trousers, dresses and trench coats in petrol green and butter-scotch shades. Givenchy, Saint Laurent, and Hermes were the ones to bring up the leather game this season.

Cowboy:

One of the seasons most ubiquitous run on the catwalk was almost too hard to ignore. Isabel Marant opened her show with models wearing prairie dresses styled with cowboy boots. Chic neckerchiefs and boots were also featured by Fendi, while Calvin Klein completed the tradition with western shirts and plaid dresses.

To be honest some of these trends make me very excited about the coming fashion scene but I do have my doubts about the rest of them. But I'm sure like always, fashion will find its way to grow on us!

Makeup Trends You Cannot Miss Out!

Don’t Be Afraid To Sparkle!

Remember two adjectives amply and profusely! Apply glitter, whatever color, whatever style on your makeup brushes and paint away your eyelids cheeks and lips!

But not to go overboard and look like you’ve woken up hungover, the morning after a Halloween party, make sure to focus on one feature at a time. Also, glitter also has colors and undertones, so make sure whatever shades you use to compliment your skin tone.

Caution: You do want the glitter to stay in place and not spread all over, right? So, do apply base makeup before so that the glitter sticks on well, and of course, always finish up the look with a setting spray.

Red Lips Like A Living Laughing Rose..
Need I say more? No, but I still will …  The perfect amount of chill in the air brings back the classic French elegance, the rich and vibrant carmine lips.

Lips are the focal point in most makeup looks, pay detailed attention to contouring your lips with lip liners, add-on mascara, and some translucent powder and you are ready to take the world by the storm. Apply lipstick directly from the stick or always have the help of a lip brush to fix those imperfect curves and edges.

Caution: Chapped, dry lips don’t give out a perfect pout ever! Pay attention on taking care of your lips. Have a basic sugar scrub for your lips, use lip masks, keep them moisturized and most importantly hydrate.

Dreaming With Your Eyes Wide Open!
Nights get longer, days get shorter and our eyes definitely need a wakeup call. Give your eyes that fresh pop of illumination with white shadows at the inner corner of your eyes. Matte or not, totally your call!

Make things easy and multitask. Use a small pointed brush to enhance the corner of your eyes, cheekbones, top of the cupid bow and point on your nose with a neutral illuminator.

Caution: White won’t make your dark spots peak out or make your complexion look pale if the base foundation is of the right shade – add in a little bronzer and it’ll take the look to a totally different level.

Make It Pop Like Pink Champaign

Contrast is important, you know why? Because it gives all the colors used individuality and uniqueness. Pale/ dark, warm/ cold, use gradients on your eyelids to create the perfect pop art.
Even if you are scared of mismatched colors – give it a try, you won't believe how well sometimes the most bizarre looking combinations rock the look.

Caution: Blend – Blend – Blend. If the pop of color on your eyes is too much for you, try keeping your lips subtle, but I'd say give your lips a pop of color too, don’t let colors scare you.
Lip Gloss Speaks Louder Than Words!
Baby its cold outside, but fresh summer lips are always the deal breaker. Have them glossy, shimmery with a hint of “just bitten” effect.
Pastels shades like rose, peach, mauve, lilac, plum are the best options to get the look.

Caution: Pay attention to the gloss texture as well, because no matter how perfect the lip shade is, if it doesn’t look silky/ soft it won’t speak louder than words.

Kitten Heels Are Here To Stay - Anum Thanvi Sharif

Trainer heels as they were called, gained prominence in the 1950’s for the for the teens as they were to prepare the young girl for stilettoes. For their practical and comfort purposes, kitten heels soon became popular amongst woman of all ages. For the woman like stance it gave one’s posture and for its feminine style kitten heels reigned the fashion scene during the 1960’s and 1980’s as well.

There was a period is 2000 when the kitten heels suddenly became less stylish for the fashionable and were looked upon as drab and shabby, but thanks to big names like Audrey Hepburn, who flaunted kitten heels in her famous features like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s" and “Sabrina” and Michelle Obama who in when started doing her public appearances managed to pull of the look immaculately – set a high position for the shoes as a part of the pop culture.

Today kitten heels are yet again in the limelight, thanks to Demna Gvasalia, creative director of both Vetements and Balenciaga in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik from the runways of spring 2017.
Then came Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collection of Dior, Celine’s kitten heel mules, Gucci’s slingbacks and feathered Prada’s. What counts most is the styling done with the heels to appear more aesthetic, stylish and the perfect feminine flats to have as a sophisticated stiletto.

The best thing about kitten heals apart from there comfort is that they can be worn during any season with any style, the only thing you must be careful about is that they should never be worn with chunky heels or round toes. Always remember the point is to look classy and elegant, not a kindergarten student going for a playdate.

Just somethings do be sure of when flaunting a pair of kittens … since kitten heels are low, pay attention to the length of the skirt/ dress that you are pairing with them. Especially if you are petite, avoid wearing kitten heels with long length garments such as skirts, dresses or even wide-legged pants.

Trips To Thailand - Anum Thanvi Sharif

Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets. Thailand has a special place in my heart and no video or photograph can do justice to the memories and experiences I've had there. Unfortunately, this trip was almost 3 years ago, so the clips that I have arent HD quality, but the video will surely give you an idea of how truly amazing the journey and destination was.

We started our adventure with Koh Samui and stayed at the place where the party never ends ... Ark Bar Beach Resort Koh Samui Thailand. The same night we took a ferry ride to Koh Phangan for our bucket list activity, The Fullmoon party Thailand!

Done and dusted the next day we reached back to Koh Samui and spent a lovely night by the sea with live music and beautiful weather. Then came time for our second destination - Phuket. Phuket was amazing for its beaches, especially Patong Beach, Phuket, Phuket - its night street Bangla Road Phuket and its hospitality at Banthai Beach Resort & Spa Phuket. We had to make sure to get all the water sports done and of course enjoy the food and shopping and sightseeing.

The last stop for our trip was none other than Bangkok, Thailand! We were lucky to again have a wonderful stay at the Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok. I was way more fortunate to be able to celebrate my birthday on the trip as well. From cab rides to metros - Patpong Nightlife to a little detour to Pattaya - everything was beyond perfect!

Thailand without a tattoo is impossible, thanks to Bangkok Tattoo Studio for awesome work of arts for me and Munir.

To end the exciting trip we made sure to become kids again and take a quick stop at the Siam park city  and enjoy all the roller coaster rides and candies.

Victoria's Makeup Secrets

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows are all about glamour, but it’s not just the bedazzled undergarments, larger than life head gears, feather and tussles – it is also so very much about the flawless, photoshopped luminous skin that all the ramp models flaunt. From the bouncy shiny hair to the right amount of pink on the cheeks. From the pearly white smiles to the glow that could be seen from oceans away. But how do they pull it all off?

Of course, it has a lot of hard work, strenuous fitness routines, strict diets, and religious beauty regimes – and I say this with the utmost respect, being a model is no piece of cake, let alone being Victoria’s Secret model because their standards are unimaginably high and almost unreal. But along with all this, the fact is that makeup and grooming play a huge role in the outcome of their final looks.

For this year’s look, the inspiration was Gisele Bündchen, who was also a Victoria Secret model from 2000 till 2007. The bar was set high to her natural style, which was healthy, happy and flawless. I think I have written enough now to consider it as an introductory body of my write-up so now let’s come straight to the point and talk about the products VS models used to literally look like angels.

To begin with Charlotte Tilbury, from the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Ltd and Contributing Beauty Editor British Vogue used her brands’ Dry Sheet Instant Facial Mask, Charlottes Magic Cream and Magic Eye Rescue.

Once the canvas was clean the model’s skins were primed with Wonder Glow primer and for concealer, Magic Away and Hollywood Flawless Filter were used.

For the perfect sculpt look Tilbury went in with his Film Star Bronze and Glow Palette to contour and highlight - Illuminating Beauty Light Wand was also applied for the extra oomph.

To finish up the metallic bronzy look, Rose Gold Eyeshadows, Chocolate Brown Eyeliner and Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Lip cream, showstopper the cherry on the cake.

And don’t you dare think I'll leave out on the hair details - Conair - Infiniti Pro 3Q Compact Electronic Brushless Motor Styler and Infiniti Pro by Conair 2-In-1 Styler were the weapons in the battlefield for all those luscious looking locks.

Last but not least, the final touch was of the Victoria's Secret Love Star fragrance which smells of rosegold apple, white lily, and dark rum – am I in heaven?

So here it is .. go and get your GLOW freak on!
