Coconut I love you - Part 2

OK so to begin with the 2nd part of my Coconut Blog, I’d like to start with pointing the fact that Coconut is perfect! If only coconut could be my boyfriend.
During my journey to find out coconut benefits I’ve come across numerous findings and it’s actually funny because we all have been looking the wrong way for cures and remedies when coconut was just right there in front of our eyes, but we never noticed. (That’s what my boyfriend is actually like – LOL)

Like I shared earlier coconut is beneficial for weight loss, as it burns fat – YESSS, also including plus points for boosted digestion and cellulite reduction. It’s miraculous  for low blood sugar, cholesterol, Alzheimer’s, heart disease and it’s a great home ingredient for insomnia, wrinkles, dry skin, dry hair,  – I swear I can go on and on!
I have shortlisted some easy, tasteful and most beautiful looking recipes for all of you to begin happy and healthy living with.

The Ultimate Energy Drink

- 2 cups coconut water
- 1.5 tbsp. Chia Seeds
- ½ tbsp. Fresh Lemon Juice
- Sweetener to Taste (Maple Syrup or Honey)

Soak chia seeds in coconut water for a good 10 mins, that would make these seeds, swell up. Add lemon, sweetener and Enjoy!

P.S: Don’t forget to give your container a little stir as chia seeds tend to sink and rest and the bottom.

Coconut Milk Smoothie

- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 peach
- 2/3 mint leaves
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Sweetener to taste
- Ice

Blend all together and go crazy!

P.S: you can substitute peach with any fruit – (but obviously the ones that blend well with milk base)

Coconut Oil Coffee

- 1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
- 1 Cup Organic Coffee
- 1 Tsp Organic Unsalted Butter
- ¼ Tsp vanilla

Blend all ingredients together for 20 secs and drink immediately after. If need be feel free to add natural sweetener. This coffee would be closest to Black, if you like it with milk, add in a little coconut milk as well.

Coconut Scrub

- ¼ Cup Granulated Sugar
- ½ Cup Coconut Oil
- 1 Tbsp. Citrus Fruit Zest

Mix all ingredients well, and secure in an air tight jar. It would be nice if you don’t try and store it for prolonged periods, better would be if you make as much as required.

Coconut Oil Moisturizer

- 1 Cup Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Vitamin E (Oil Capsule)

Dump in a blender or mix with an electric blender for 6 -7 minutes on high speed. Pour the mixture and enjoy its benefits, best for dry skin and chapped lips. You can store this mixture in a cool dry place. Also feel free to experiment with different essential oils like lavender, dandelion etc.

And if not all this – the least you can do is have a Table spoon of coconut oil early in the morning empty stomach, or right before bed at night time. Seriously – that’s it! And coconut will start its magic before you’d know it.

I wanna climb up on a mountain and yell my lungs out …

Coconut, You Are The Love Of My Life!!!!

Pantone Top 10 - Because Colors Matter!

Rose Quartz, Serenity, Butter Cup, Lilac Grey, Iced Coffee, Peach Echo, Snorkel Blue, Limpet Shell, Fiesta, and Green Flash – don’t you feel like wandering in a tranquil, serene place with a happy and soothing sense of mind, just by reading these names? I know I do!

These are the names of the top 10 Pantone colors of the year, which means everything you’ll see, eat, smell, wear and shop for, will be in these shades at every grand designer store, or even at thrift shops.
So first things first would be to know how to carry these tones in your garments or accessories and to know what goes best with these tones for specific body and complexion types.

Now the most common assumption people have is that lighter tones make you look broader, although it’s not something to be worried about but if that’s your choice of preference, and makes you happy, so be it! But by pairing these specific Pantone Colors of the Year with monochromatic tones, you can achieve the best looks for all seasons. I will be sharing updates on how to's and trends and tips on fashion and lifestyle using these colors shortly, so id suggest you stay tuned.

For now let me tell you the most unique things about these chosen colors is a) they are unisex, because of course, it about time we stop telling them, boys can’t wear pink and b) - The big “O” - its homage to the beauty of natural resources and emerging colors in the sky. These colors levitate you to a happier, calmer place leaving us with a sense of relaxation.  Because seriously, fashion had to do something to bring upon peace and what better way than to change the scenery around you, scenery being your wardrobe, upholstery, everything you see.

But how can colors do that? – Glad you asked J.  The answer is color physiology. Colors influence a person’s perception and behavior, marketeers would know, because that’s how every single product in this world is branded. For say if we look at the placebo effect “Hot colored” pills are used as supplements, while “Cool Color” pills are used as depressants.

Colors can affect both emotionally and physiologically and light colors for sure help people perceive world as a calmer place. In 2000, Glasgow installed blue lights in certain troublesome areas in the city, and reported significant change in the crime rates – the color worked it's magic and made people less aggressive!

Even if not for the sake of all the personal benefits that you can get out of these colors, try incorporating them in you daily styling and household for the sake of fashion. There will be positive changes, and even if not, you’ll still be apt on the fashion radar!

I will be writing more about Pantone Color clothing and décor – because other than my interest in blogging, the fact that I’m in love with these colors, gives me an idea that I'll be writing quite a lot about it.

To Serenity, To Fashion, To Peace!

Gold and Real Flower - Its what a Lipstick should look like.

Aren’t we all just too greedy in this day and age? Greedy for money, success, honor, and pleasure – greed is bad! But then there comes a little nature’s beauty reminder that fills our life with joy, and really, like literally brings a smile to our face.

The internet is going crazy over it, and I couldn’t help but fall for it myself. This one thing that actually made me feel serene and I felt beauty just by looking at it. I’m too philosophical, so it has to be something major right?! It is!

Jelly lipsticks by Kailijumei. It is by far the prettiest creation I at least have seen in the cosmetic industry. Now it sure does not have pigmented hues to it, as the lip trends impose on now days, but it is something I would definitely be saving and using for the rest of my life. For now it is out of stock – because it is so amazing, they sold all pieces obviously but pre-orders are on and I can’t insist you further enough to get your hands and lips on it.

The Lipsticks give out a color of natural pink, which changes shades with your body temperature. Say Hello! to your mood lipstick. The most startling thing about the lipstick is its look! The fairy-tale stick (as I like to call it) is infused with gold flakes and real, actual miniature flowers.

If the definition of beauty had a picture, it would be this!

I'm ordering one NOW, how about you?!

My new found love - coconut! Part 1

OK I’ve had coconut before and it tastes alright - its water, well yeah I always found it to be very refreshing, but that’s about it. I never could come down to jotting down the benefits of it, and how I should know it can change my life. But then again, thanks to the social media, which I’m proudly a part of, had this sudden boom on coconut, everywhere. Like health and beauty experts are literally telling us to eat, drink, rub, anything coconut. So obviously to tame my little curious inner self, I started doing some research. And this is what I’ve come down to. I’m proud to say, I am now a part of the coconut brigade and here by I present to you, The COCONUT!

First things first – it helps you lose weight! This is a big one, no kidding right?! The unique combinations of fatty acids tend to have a positive effect on your health, one of which is – and wait for it – WEIGHT LOSS! People have been resistant of coconut oil because of the fact that it has almost 90% of the “fatty – saturated – acids”. But that all is beyond us now, as the new studies show, that saturated fats aren’t harmful AT ALL! So no artery clogging guys, that’s a total myth!

And I’m not making this up, do some research on you own if you wish to. Also, something to ponder on … medium chain triglycerides, contained in coconut oil can have therapeutic effects on several brain disorders. Webmd

So here the run down *drum roll please*

1. Coconut oil contains fatty acids with powerful medicinal properties.
2. This magic potion can kill microorganisms - bacteria, viruses etc.
3. Help burn more fat. Specially the stubborn abdominal fat!
4. HOW? By reducing your hunger and keeping you from eating junk.
5. Fatty acids in coconut oil, tuned into Ketones (chemicals that the body creates to break down fats) can help reduce seizures. It can also boost brain function in Alzheimer’s patients.
6. Coconut oil help reduces blood cholesterol #Fact
7. Say goodbye to hair and skin damage, because coconut oil as a moisturizer can do you wonders!

Stay tuned for the second part of this blog, where I’ll be sharing unique and interesting ways to use coconut oil in your daily life. I promise, it’ll all be both fun and beneficial!

Here’s to staying healthy and charming!

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for Ice-cream!!!

So we had our usual family trip to Creamello this weekend. For those who haven't been there yet, its an ice cream go to place with a good range of flavors and toppings. My lil one as always stood loyal to his chocolate preferences, but me and my bae tried their cold plate.

The process was slower then expected but I guess the overall experience depends on the kind of flavors you put together. The staff was really polite but I think a little more training is required as they were hardly able to assist us in selecting flavors or anything.

The over all experience was good, and to top it off was the reasonable pricing. I thought I had the pictures with me but just realized they were on my Snapchat, and the only one thing I dread about Snapchat is, it disappears :P, although that's the whole point of it, but still. Anyways... here is a picture from Creamello's Facebook Album:

I tried mocha madness with chocolate brownie, and it turned out heaven!

Another stir in the ice cream culture internationally is the Black Ice Cream! - Yes its ice cream and its black, it cant get any better than this! Although I think this master piece should've been invented centuries ago, but its never too late for awesomeness, is it? The creator of this invention, Nick Morgenstern highlights the health benefits of the ingredients used in the recipe. This Black Magic is made of coconut ash, an activated charcoal form, being the shell that has been charred and pulverized.

Coconut Ash Icecream

I don't know about you all but this looks so pretty, I want to sit and have a meaningful conversation with it. Seriously! Its classic, sexy and elite and I cant wait to try it. There is a reason they always opt for Black whenever in doubt - its always the best-est choice and the wisest one too.

Hodophilia - Love Of Travel

Traveling has been on my mind for ages, and I won’t lie if I say I live by the quote, “if traveling was free you wouldn’t see me again”. But reality is, traveling is difficult, it takes saving money, planning, getting leaves from work (because the minute you plan a getaway, a very important, and an unexpected project comes up). Well to be honest, I am a kind of a person who knows how to get around things, so getting a leave isn’t that big a trouble. Then there is planning, being a strategy head and a mother of one, I’m always planning everything anyway, so that comes naturally too. Money saving now is the difficult part, and being a shopaholic, with an expensive taste, I’d rather die than not waste money. I try, but it’s a natural reflex mechanism for me, for absolutely everything. If I’m upset, I want to shop, if I’m bored I want to shop, seriously whenever there is a place I have to go to, I have no cloths, it’s a need more than a desire and I struggle every day to overcome it.

Well recently me and my husband, started planning a much needed, long awaited trip, and the first thing that was on my check list was to save up, so I can shop when I travel. For the record, if there is anything I like more than shopping, it is travelling and only so I started saving money. Well this blog is not about “how to save money”, I’ll do that one, when I myself figure it out, but I thought of adding some tips here because hey, there is no vacation without money right. So yeah I started off with 2 monthly committees, first one is already mine and the second one I’ll get right before my flight, than I also have eyes on my yearly bonus from work and I also plan on saving all the extra cash there is on me. Try having a separate savings account for a trip, or invest in something to get a return, when you plan a vacation.

Now that we are covered with the basics, let’s focus on the most difficult part of travelling – packing! You know that feeling of wanting to pack everything, not knowing what you might need? Its common and we all face that, ending up packing useless junk that we don’t even look at while on vacation.
When travelling live by one rule and one rule only “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”. This should include all areas, like the cloths you wear, the food you eat, the schedule you follow, even the beauty regime.

No you don’t need to carry 5 different shades of denim or jewelry to go with every outfit. You don’t need matching stilettos and you clearly don’t need matching bags - unless it’s a fashion oriented trip. But all in all a vacation should make you feel free and that can’t happen with a stack of suitcases.

Top most tip – Hand carry all the way – if you must shop, buy an extra bag and bring that back home, rather than taking empty bags with you.

1. Leave the baggage behind (literally)
You are going to shop anyway, so pack as little as possible. List out things that you really need, like 2 pair of undergarments, one jeans and a couple of tops, and these too should be the ones you are already bored off. Once you reach the destination, buy their fashion and try their style, throw out the ones you carried with you, to get more space in your luggage. Remember to take less items and more money, that’s the perfect recipe for absolute adventure.

2. Use all the empty spaces.
We have heard and tried different packing tricks, like rolling your cloths instead of folding, stuffing your undergarments and socks inside shoes – clearly they all work! It’s always best to use whatever space you have rather than throwing in items.

3. Pockets of joy.
Zip locks are a traveler’s best friend. Use them to secure toiletries, documents and even small electronics like shavers or chargers.

4. Resting accessories.
The one vacation must have is rest and you should pack up for your utmost comfort when it comes to sleeping during travel. An eye mask and ear plugs should always be a part of your hand carry for in-flight or train/car traveling.

5. Cover up.
You never know when you may need it. If you are landing at a conservative city, you might need it for covering up yourself. Moreover the most important usage would be during a flight, as it tends to get cold at times. A shawl can always become a blanket.

6. Divide and rule.
If you are travelling with someone, make sure to divide your items in each other’s bags. Luggage tends to get lost sometimes, and in situations like these, you should always have a plan B.

7. Copy everything.
For the same reason of losing stuff, always make extra copies of your documents and keep a set in every luggage item that you have.

8. Comfort food.
Although I’m a non-believer in this, as I think we should try whatever the vacation spot has to offer, even their food. But there are some food items that people can’t live without, like a favorite tea or even crackers. Carry them with you in a zip lock, but only according to your need. Remember you are not moving there, it’s just a trip.

Hope this helps, and I’ll make sure to post more regarding traveling do’s and don’ts.

Bon Voyage!

Life is Outside the Comfort Zone

For as long as I’ve lived, I have led my life through my eyes and my understandings. Sure they all have not been awesome judgments, sure there were many downfalls, but whatever it was, it was me. I hung out with people who always thought that I was right; I would take advice but make sure they always said what I wanted to listen. Irony was, I didn’t even notice when they were giving bad advice just to please me. I out of my understanding, tried mingling with people, who found me perfect – because that was the bubble I was most comfortable in.
It takes a lot for a person to pick out the negatives within and agree to the notion of being wrong. I of all people had the worst time accepting my flaws, for me I was always right, because being right was comfortable to me. You can only imagine the amount of work that goes into self-healing once you know, you are wrong, and you need to fix things. There’s facing yourself, than demanding change, than coping anxiety and what not. It’s easier to know you are perfect, and it’s even easier to find people who would impose your good qualities on you, just to get in your good books (for many obvious reasons).
This make-believe life of mine made me very confident and charming but this was just for the little world of mine, for the outside world, I still wasn’t aware of the amount of dedication that was needed to make my mark, in any field of life. You see, I didn’t even know, what it would be like, if I wasn’t correct all the time.
Then I met my husband, who believes in me like anything, but never agrees on anything. Being with him made me realized how the outside world would be like. With him it was obviously easier, because he was mine, no matter how bad it was, he would stay, say yes. But for the world outside, they weren’t there to butter me up, they would reject my presentations at meetings, they would tell me I look fat, they would cut me off during a conversations, they will not always appreciate my cloths. The outside world wasn’t as comfortable as mine, and my husband made me see it through his eyes.
The constant argument over an idea that I had, which excited me the most and my only hope was for him to love it –made me question a lot about our relationship. Why can’t he just be happy for me? Why is there always a list of questions after anything I speak about? The one thing that I missed over and over again was his way of polishing me up for worse situations. He knew about my comfort bubble, he knew I won’t be able to face the world. And so he became them, those who would negate me, those who would question me, he became them, to make me capable enough to face them.
We all have someone like this in our circles. For some it’s the parents, or an older sibling, or even a friend. Find out that person, and start listening to what they have to say. They may not always be right, I know my husband isn’t! But whatever they question you about, are the things you need to be ready with. The world only gives a few chances, and you need to be prepared enough in order to gain as much as you can in those chances only. Once gone, you’d be looking for a comfort bubble again.
I’ve had a long day today regarding following your dreams, and believing in yourself. It’s a campaign we are doing for one of our clients – and all the discussions and analysis made me think of my own self, and all the things my husband tells me. The time is now to believe and live your dream … he says “as long as you are in the bubble you won’t achieve”. Sure it will be tough, but won’t it be worth it?!
Find that person, and let him shake off your make beliefs. Look at the world with new found open eyes, and just take the steps forward!

Life is outside the comfort zone!
