Victoria's Makeup Secrets

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows are all about glamour, but it’s not just the bedazzled undergarments, larger than life head gears, feather and tussles – it is also so very much about the flawless, photoshopped luminous skin that all the ramp models flaunt. From the bouncy shiny hair to the right amount of pink on the cheeks. From the pearly white smiles to the glow that could be seen from oceans away. But how do they pull it all off?

Of course, it has a lot of hard work, strenuous fitness routines, strict diets, and religious beauty regimes – and I say this with the utmost respect, being a model is no piece of cake, let alone being Victoria’s Secret model because their standards are unimaginably high and almost unreal. But along with all this, the fact is that makeup and grooming play a huge role in the outcome of their final looks.

For this year’s look, the inspiration was Gisele Bündchen, who was also a Victoria Secret model from 2000 till 2007. The bar was set high to her natural style, which was healthy, happy and flawless. I think I have written enough now to consider it as an introductory body of my write-up so now let’s come straight to the point and talk about the products VS models used to literally look like angels.

To begin with Charlotte Tilbury, from the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Ltd and Contributing Beauty Editor British Vogue used her brands’ Dry Sheet Instant Facial Mask, Charlottes Magic Cream and Magic Eye Rescue.

Once the canvas was clean the model’s skins were primed with Wonder Glow primer and for concealer, Magic Away and Hollywood Flawless Filter were used.

For the perfect sculpt look Tilbury went in with his Film Star Bronze and Glow Palette to contour and highlight - Illuminating Beauty Light Wand was also applied for the extra oomph.

To finish up the metallic bronzy look, Rose Gold Eyeshadows, Chocolate Brown Eyeliner and Victoria’s Secret Velvet Matte Lip cream, showstopper the cherry on the cake.

And don’t you dare think I'll leave out on the hair details - Conair - Infiniti Pro 3Q Compact Electronic Brushless Motor Styler and Infiniti Pro by Conair 2-In-1 Styler were the weapons in the battlefield for all those luscious looking locks.

Last but not least, the final touch was of the Victoria's Secret Love Star fragrance which smells of rosegold apple, white lily, and dark rum – am I in heaven?

So here it is .. go and get your GLOW freak on!

Badhaai Ho - Review

Badhaai ho, as the movie title suggests is all about celebrations. A completely entertaining movie with the right amount of humor, that will keep the audiences hooked throughout both the first and second half of the film.

Looking at the trailer we all knew that it’s about a middle-aged couple getting pregnant unexpectedly and was hoping for a comic riot – which it was but more than that the movie was also about family values, going against the odds and standing for yourself. Walking into the theater I did not expect to shed any tears, however, call me an old fashion or an emotional freak, at the climax I was sobbing with a wide smile on my face.

The movie starts with the introduction of characters and their lifestyles. Ayushman Khurrana, playing the role of Nakul Kaushik living in government quarters with his father (TT at Indian railways), mother (a housewife), a younger brother and an old age grandmother – whereas Sanya Malhotra, playing Renee Sharma, living with her widowed mother in the upscale suburbs, both working together and in love.

A few minutes in and the big news breaks out. Each character’s comic timings and flawless rendition of emotions are impeccable. The best thing about the humor was, no one looked like they were trying too hard to make it look funny. Ayushman, who by the way, in my opinion, is one of the most natural actors in Bollywood, deserves a standing ovation for carrying the transitions of this character so beautifully and making a regular boy next door, appear so unique and enthralling with his screen presence. The constant bantering between the family members, the family’s initial reaction to the news and the entire process of making the awkwardness seem normal leaves audience in fits of laughter.
The only one thing off is the brief and irrelevant addition of a character, shown to be confused about his sexuality. I don’t think its anything to be made jokes on, especially in a day and age when we as a world are striving hard to get equal rights for our LGBT community.

From gripping one-liners like "tere liye toh mera baph hi kaafi hai” to the grandmother’s taunts, everything seems very organic and genuine. More than anything, I believe that the most captivating thing about this movie was the awkwardness – it made it relatable, funny and left audiences with a social message.

Badhaiyan jee Badhaiyaan!!!

Budget Friendly Makeup - Essence Cosmetics - Anum Thanvi Sharif

So, one of my dear friends suggested me to make a video on budget-friendly makeup for the everyday look and I loved the idea. I took up the challenge quickly and went on a makeup haul, to find out the best, long-lasting makeup products within the budget of PKR. 5000/-. And let me tell you guys, it wasn’t easy – the makeup prices are crazy out there!
These are not the products that I use on myself, but I was surprised to see the results that I got. If you have a combination skin, but more dry than oily, these products are perfect for you. This is an easy, everyday look (you can play around the lip shade though) and give yourself the perfect matte finish with a faux glow.
You are going to subscribe to my channel, right? Also, please comment below on what videos you want to see next.

Disclaimer: I’m not a makeup artist – this tutorial is all about what I do with my face every day. Also, to stay within the budget I have skipped a couple of steps e.g. Primer, Setting Spray etc. and I have also skipped using brushes for blending – BUT I would suggest you use dedicated brushes and/or beauty blender for applying your foundation, translucent powder, eyeshadows, blush, and highlighter.

***Featured Products in this Tutorial***
Foundation: Essence Soft Touch Mousse – 03 Matt Honey = PKR 880
Translucent Face Powder: All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder Waterproof – 01 Clear = PKR 690

Paint Em Blush - Home Decor

Seriously who doesn’t like blush! Girls love it because it makes them look oh so pretty, fresh and perfect. And boys love it, because of course it makes their woman happy. If you come to think of it, blush doesn’t always have to be a color to enhance your facial features or help perk up your outfit, but it very well can also be a part of your home décor. Nothing is as beautiful as soft pastel colors around that house that make you both serene at mind and soul, while keeping you at ease. I don’t want to start on my color psychology debate here, but it’s true, colors play a very important role in a person’s behavior, temperament, mood etc.

I can start off listing a thousand things that can be in a blush tone around a house and would absolutely look lovely. For starters, a blush tone wall with a mix of grey and ivory toned furniture, some mirrors and some antiques, makes me imagine a very classy and chic version of our very own Barbie Doll House.

 Blush Chair

Obviously you don’t have to go over board with anything unless you are not comfortable with it. For that purpose I would advise on adding up some statement pieces to your existing environment. It can be a nice pair of cushions,  a set of scented candles or a beautiful pretty vase on the center table. It can also be a piece of furniture like a chair, take it slow, if you may and let it set in. Once you get a catch of the pastel change, you can keep adding in as many accessories as you want.

 Blush Vase

Blush by the way, or a Rose Quartz is also one of the Pantone 2016 combination color, the other one is called Serene (Pastel Blue) which would absolutely look flawless paired up together.

Exotic combinations, for that hint of Vogue-ness in your house can be gold, mint or even copper. A Persian rug with copper undertones and a hint of blush and oh! Turquoise, I can only imagine its beauty.

Another good way to use these tones while being on budget would be adding artworks on your walls. They can add up color to the plain old cream walls and also bring in some drama to your house. Also be open to the concept of adding a pop of color around you. You’d be scared to try and change the lamp or even that sofa to a different unique color base, or even one with a printed pattern. But trust me; by just changing one main piece in your room, you can change the entire look and feel of it. And I mean come on its your sofa, you do whatever you have to do with it, to make it look glam! For all I can say, as long as it makes you feel at home, cozy and comfortable, it’s yours to be.

Try getting out of the comfort zone of the usual colors that we use around in our house on daily basis. Honestly blush and/ or any other pastels are the safest bet anyway.
